What this spread is

After a breakup the question people ask most often is “Will they come back?” The cards don’t know this, and a “yes” or “no” from them only unsettles you. So this spread asks a different question: what is happening with you, and what can you do next. That is also why it makes no promises about the other person.

The five positions run from causes to action: what drove you apart, what you feel now, what keeps you holding on, what you truly want and which next step is within reach. The spread suits you whether you are still grieving or already thinking about a new beginning.

What each position means

  1. What came between you. What stood between you: the unspoken, different needs, tiredness or circumstances. This looks at the dynamic, not at who is to blame.
  2. What I feel now. Your current state: sadness, anger, relief, emptiness. The card helps you name the feeling and allow it to be there.
  3. What keeps me holding on. What won’t let you let go: habit, hope, fear of being alone, the unsaid. Sometimes it is warmth rather than pain.
  4. What I really want. The need beneath the feelings: to be heard, to feel safe, to breathe freely. It may differ from what you tell people.
  5. My next step. One step within your reach: take care of yourself, set a boundary, talk, give the pause some time. A small step is still a step.

Which questions it suits

What this spread won’t show

The spread won’t tell you whether your former partner will come back, won’t reveal their feelings, thoughts or actions and won’t promise “reconciliation.” It doesn’t replace the support of people close to you. If the pain is too strong, lasts too long or thoughts of harming yourself appear, reach out to a counselor or a helpline (in the US, call or text 988; elsewhere, see findahelpline.com): that is not weakness but care for yourself.

A short example

Question: How do I go on after a breakup?

Putting it together: a lot was left unsaid between you, regret prevails now, and what holds you is the thought that there is no choice. The Star points to what you truly long for: peace. The Hermit suggests a step within reach: a pause and caring for yourself, with no rush into decisions.

The example is made up: it shows how the positions are read, not what will “come up” for you.

How to read the spread

Who lays out the cards in the bot

In the bot, the spread is laid out by Iris, an artificial intelligence rather than a human tarot reader. We don’t hide it. She interprets exactly the cards that came up, in light of your question and the positions of this spread. It is entertainment and a reason to reflect, not a forecast or advice on health, money or legal matters.

Frequently asked questions

Will the person I broke up with come back?

Cards can’t know this, and we don’t promise such an answer. The spread looks at your feelings, your needs and your next step, and those really are in your hands.

How is the “What is between us?” spread different from this one?

“What is between us?” is about a living relationship and the bond. This spread is about the time after a breakup: what holds you, what you want and how to move on.

Will the spread help me let go?

It won’t cure the pain, but it helps you name your feelings and see a step within reach. It is a conversation with yourself, not therapy.

How much does it cost?

150 crystals, and your first full spread in the bot is free. One crystal equals one Telegram Star.

Who does the reading?
